hazy hot weather in the isolated capital
38, 40, 42 and counting
nuthin for it but to hide away
contribute to the warming effect
run the air machine
sip the iced tea
watch the tube
surf the net
have a quick kip
cook as quickly as possible
the young uns cope so much better
than us older ones

yesterday was da national dae
a celebration of takeover
of white sails in the sun
as da song goes
but this is not the place for them reflections
we know we gotta do it
we gotta make it right
ah hmmm
so, we had people over and da power went off
so we sat inside
killer easterly hot wind until two in the morn
so no outside dining
and drank g n t n wine n beer
good Ck had got ice in case of emergency
so at least the drinks were cold
then a stroll up da street for fireworks from the city
our house is up a hill so is great for this
bright lights n all to satisfy da kids
and we all sat
the kids n adults from the street
and wtched it together
then
c ya later, next year, bless you
and a stumble
not druken
back home
still scorching hot
so dvds n cold schapps n a chat
then bed in the heat
this is ozstryla in da summer
i love it n hate it
i long for the north in these months
for the cold n snow and life i've never had
so much dreaming
