morning began with mayhem
long delayed blood tests n coffee at usual haunts
now freends
its back to you
f
finn brothers
couple of albums here
furst won an experimental unfinished sort o thing
second one fully produced rock monster
songs about family n life n ageing
good stuff
The fray next
loved this song of theirs
over my head(cable car)
didn't dig the first single so much
a good lovey pop song
with a moody riff n some cool alternative
literary lyrics
oh i forgot about this one
the jam
direction reaction creation box set
they were amazing
re interpreters of the mod tradition
in the punk/post punk era
7 albums or so in 6 years
incredible song writing from weller
solid support for the other two guys
and an impact beyond many others
a true peoples band
giving voice to a working class generation
full of boredom hopelessness despair
thats entertainment
town called malice
start
the list goes on
this box set is awesome too
booklet 5 cds extras the lot
get it for yourself
not always easy listening
sometimes a bit dated
but worth your time
jamiroqui
love it for afternoons
up n soulful
stevie wonder sound alike
earth centred and concerned
went a but disco n dancy after this
but love this record
jars of clay
token christian record
two great tracks produced by king crimsons adrian belew
you can hear the difference immediately
sophistication and artistry lacking for the rest of the record
i think they sort of lost it after this
but of course, they went on to mega success
but there you go
wrong again
oh yeah
joe jackson
never one to stand still was he?
beat jazz ska soul classical covers singer writer
hes done it all
great keyboard man
keen ear for an alternative arrangement
this is a cool greatest hits album and really really good
check it out
what a woman to end with
if she was british she'd be a dame
joni mitchell
my missus really digs the earlier folk records
i admit
there is so much heart and love in these
the alternative guitar tunings are a wonder
and the number of her songs covered
is a testament to her continuing appeal
and genius
but for me
the mid 70's jazz rock records
like hissing of the summer lawns
are the real deal
no longer constrained by the pop world
she builds intricate recordings with superb musicians surrounding her
the themes of the world
love relationships self just-getting-by
are universal
the artistry
magnificent
these r albums you grow into
albums that change you
albums which you play your kids when they are old enough
albums to use as a lens
so borrow one if you must
and love it.
