p r s - fill in the letters for a complete experience

solo career
what can you say about a man who had a recording contract at 18
formed one seminal band
playing mod
wrote about his growing up as a late teen
resonated with a whole generation
broke it up so he could move on
amidst tears rumours n spite
formed a complete different outfit
played soul n jazz n funk
and when he had done that
went out on his own
became a icon and mentor to a generation
reinvented himself
kept moving forwards
confronted criticism head on
(a bit too head on actually...)
and continues being out there
pushing himself?
What do you say?
Well done mate!
He is a seminal influence to me.
The music i come back to
the music which makes me up n happy
makes me want to rock
makes me buy pointy shoes n striped shirts and new suits
is his
thank you paul.
now i've grovelled
i have to do it again
pete townshend
influenced weller
so on my list
the who
what a band
the power n strength
the questions n egos n the crazy late 60's
and the drummer!
and then townshend himself
a songwriter par excellence
guitarist extraordinaire
always digging inside
reflecting on themes which touch him
the teen angst always coming back to him
i don't always like his stuff
but i always respect it
the solo stuff
give me a heart to hold on to
give blood
face the face
songs which give to you and enlighten
theres a fragile beauty there too
in amongst the raw power
a vulnerability which makes it tender and strong
whilst he has put himself through the mill in producing his art
we are beneficiaries,
sometimes horrified,
sometimes enthralled,
of the process
pink floyd
the classic album
dark side of the moon
i am still growing into this album
i know its great
but i need to give it more time
but the space rock atmospheric sound
is in the church
so i guess
in me too
pulp
common people
in the tradition of mid 90's working class uk bands
add blur oasis elastica
pulp made music from the drug addled estate
reflecting the boredom of uk teens
common people a very cool track
i did like the William Shatner version!
ahhhh
after three brits
rikki lee jones
quite a few albums here
but my favourite
pirates
this album i had on a tape in the mid 80's
lost it
and only recently got a cd version
this is music which makes you cry with its beauty
its honesty
the mild jazzy grooves and sparse arrangements
steve gadds drumming really beyond belief
(especially on card board boxes - no really!)
but the lyrics the sounds the performance
take to the place where she is
with all its screwed up n romantic notions
if you haven't
you should.
really.
today.
small faces
my weller love led me to the mod tradition
the who first
and then the small faces
great soulful band
great voice in steve marriott
hammond b3 n grooves to die for
tin soldier my favourite
itchycoo park the hit single
this is a party record
some songs not as strong
bu the sounds
the psychedelic experimentation
is awesome
more tomorrow
until then
